These must be rare early examples of the ‘new style’ signs that were introduced in the late ’60s.
Although most of them were made of steel, the very first ones were wooden- most only lasted a couple of years and were quickly replaced with metal ones, but this cluster looks to be an unusual survivor. I think it should be preserved as a rarity!
