Tragic- I’m glad I don’t live in Birmingham any more, and wasn’t around to see the old factory come down. When I was at school, many of my friend’s parents worked at Longbridge- two of my classic cars were built there, and I was on the ‘Save Rover’ march in 2000 organised by Carl Chinn.
I’m glad that MG manufacture has been resurrected at part of the site, but this is still a pale echo of the hub of industry that once thrived there. There must be many ghosts riding the winds that sweep across the area, sighing and heavy with memories….
